Son of Mr and Mrs A E Tieste of Drayton Street, Bowden, SA

Member of the Royal Swift Cycle Club he competed successfully in both track and road events and was second in the Auckland Cup in 1930.

In civil life he worked with Holdens for 7 years and then with Harts, Plumbers at North Adelaide.

Herbert trained at Laverton, Point  Cook, Essendon and Ascot Vale.
