Biography

LAC Glen A Thompson RAAF of Goolwa aged 20. Son of Mr and Mrs Alfred H Thompson of Goolwa. Educated at Parilla and Hindmarsh Island Public Schools, winning his QC. Fond of tennis and wrestling. Also interested in electricial work and did drawing and draughting as a hobby. In civil life was employed by Horwood, Bagshaw Ltd. and Scott Bonnar. Enlisted on 17th December 1940 and after 14 months service in New Guinea was killed as the result of a motor accident whilst on duty despatch riding in Adelaide on March 25 1943. His father a returned soldier from the last war, is now serving in Garrison. His brother is in the RAN serving on a corvette.

Airman's Fatal Motor Bike Ride

Leading Aircraftman Glen Alphred Thompson, 20, of Goolwa, was fatally injured when his motor cycle canie into collision with a stationary motor truck at Unley yesterday afternoon. Thompson was riding along Unley road, and when south ot Frederick street, he struck the rear of the truck. He died while being taken in a civil ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Death is believed  to have been due to a broken neck. Thompson had recently returned from New Guinea.
Plainclothes Constables Sutherland and Calvesbert are preparing a report for the coroner.
