RAAF Station Port Moresby May 1942 were we lived in Air Force Barracks. We saw the sinking of the supply ship “Macdhui” during a Jap air raid. RAAF Station Port Moresby was reformed to 21 Base Wing and later to 9 Operational Group that moved to Guns Gully and in May1943 we moved to Milne Bay and camped in a coconut grove close to the unfinished Wigan strip.
I was posted back to Australia in October 1943 to 2 BAGS Port Pirie. Dad was sick at that time and I took 3 months leave without pay to help with the harvest.
Soon after returning from leave I was posted to 1 Stories Depot Laverton thanes to Air gunnery School West Sale.
When the war ended I was discharged in May 1946
