Son of Mr and Mrs Albert James FORWARD of Wilcher Street, Port Pirie, SA.  Fond of shooting and cycling, Leo was employed on Mr. Vanstone's farm at Wandearah.  He enlisted in July 1940 and was in the first Darwin raids after being there for two years.
