Son of Nicholas Vincent and Mary E. Vincent of Oxford Street, Waverley, NSW.

Brother of Herbert Nicholas Vincent who was killed in action between 22 July 1916 and 25 July 1916 and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial 

Commenced return to Australia as invalid on 10 April 1919 aboard HT Medic disembarking on 31 May 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel by rail to Sydney
