Son of Samuel Arthur and Ruby Isobel McIVOR of Largs Bay, SA.  Married and residing at 9 Osborne Street, Largs Bay, Colin was educated at Largs Bay and Lefevre Peninsula Public Schools and gained a scholarship for drawing.  He took and interest in yachting and hockey.  Colin sailed boats as a member of the Port Adelaide Sailing Club and the R.S.A.Y. Squadron.  In civilian life he was a welder for the Shell Company.  His brother J McIVOR, is served in the A.A.S.C. (Militia) and was killed in an accicent on the Mount Barker Road.  Colin enlisted in June 1940.
