Personal Stories
Pushing back the Japs
Claude served as RAAF Ground Crew in Port Moresby during World War 2. He often spoke about “pushing back the Japs”. He also clarified that “statement”. He said that the only “Jap” he ever saw was a diminutive Japanese pilot sitting between two huge American MPs, with a smug look on his face – something along the lines of, ”Well, this war is over for me, and I’m still alive.”
