When Cpl. William ‘Bill’ James Byfield was born on 22 March 1922 in Boulder, Western Australia, his father, James, was 19 and his mother, Hannah, was 19.
He had one brother and one sister.
William married Gladys Hopkins in Adelaide, South Australia, they had three children during there marriage.
He died on 8 September 1978 in Adelaide, South Australia, at the age of 56, and was buried in Mitcham, South Australia.
