Son of Mr and Mrs W. PINNINGTON of Birkenhead, SA. Married and with one son, Lewis resided at 60 Hastings Street, Glenelg. He was educated at Camden and St. Leonards Schools and played football for Glenelg 'B', and has won cups and trophies. He was employed by South Ray Amplifiers prior to enlisting in February 1940. Four brothers served in the Great War. He is described as having a bright disposition and is very popular.
