"Up the Poms"

Tony died from cirrhosis of the liver, in the Repatriation Hospital. South Australia.

Tony was a keen follower of Cricket and Australian Rules football.
In the 1950's he was a journalist and used to be a commentator for the Test Cricket broadcasts to the UK. One of Tony's last requests was for his ashes to be spread at the Adelaide Oval. His long time friend, James Grose, was a member of the board of the Adelaide Cricket Club and whilst the ACC would not let Tony's ashes be spread officially (they didn't want to start a trend), a group of Tony's friends gathered there at dawn, drank a toast with Champagne, threw his ashes in the air, and called out "Up the Poms!"
