Son of Timothy Dennis O'Carroll and Alice Kean formerly O'Carroll nee Healy of Tyagarah, North Coast, NSW formerly of Brisbane, QLD

On 31 May 1919 John married Florence May Coward in the United Methodist Church, Isle of Wight. Minister Frederick Husband officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 8 August 1919 aboard HT Katoomba disembarking on 25 September 1919.
