Private Reginald Norman Johnson (Service No:WX21004) enlisted in the AIF on 4 March 1942 with 12 Training Battalion - graded Driver Mechanic, re graded Fitter. Private Johnson was attached to 124 Australian General Transport Coy at Discharge on 30 September 1944. Younger brother Harry (Service No:WX15640) also served in WWII.
Reg was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1918, fifth of eight children of Joseph Norman Johnson (b1889 in Thebarton, South Australia) and his first wife Olive Gertrude Walker (b1888 in Orroroo, South Australia). Joseph and Olive married in 1911 in Orroroo, and lived in Adelaide, where Olive died in 1924. Joseph remarried in 1927, and he moved his family to Bridgetown, WA, where he was a Farmer.
Reg was working as a Miner in Boulder, WA in 1939 when he married his first wife Brenda May Walters (b1920 in Bridgetown, WA). Following his Discharge from the Army, Reg was a Farmer in Roleystone, Armadale and Bridgetown - he and Brenda divorced, and in 1955 Reg remarried to Edith (Edie) Myrtle Richards (nee Burton; b1919 in Perth WA) - Edie had served in the WAAAF (Sergeant; Service No:94678). Reg and Edie lived in Bridgetown - where Reg was a Farmer - until the 1960s when they moved to Perth. Reg worked as a Bus Driver, and following his Divorce from Edie, remarried in 1976 to Lillian Elizabeth Thompson. Reg and Lillian lived in Perth, where Reg worked as a Bus Driver. Reg died in 1997.
