Doug was the eldest of nine children of Albert (Bert) Page (b1882 in Oaklands, South Australia) and Bessie Lloyd Kenack (b1884 in Edwardstown, South Australia). Bert (a Labourer) and Bessie married in Adelaide in 1912, and by 1920 had moved with their children to Western Australia. The family settled in Welshpool where Bert worked as a Labourer and Motor Driver, and following their separation in 1945 (Divorce 1948), Bessie was a Boardinghousekeeper.
Doug worked as a Miner in Yilgarn WA and a Factory Hand in Welshpool. In May 1941 he enlisted in the Australian Army (Service No:WX12352). He was a Lance Corporal attached to 2/3 General Transport when he was Discharged in November 1945. Four of Doug's brothers also served in WWII - Norman Ian, Ernest Lincoln, Ronald Arthur and Keith Aubrey.
Following his Discharge, Doug returned to WA and settled in Banksiadale where he was working as a Mill Hand when he married Hilda May (b1911) in the early 1950s. In the early 1970s Doug and his family relocated to Mandurah WA where he worked as a Mill Hand. Hilda died in 1996 and Doug in 1999.
