John Cuthbert COLBEY was the second child and older son of Clara Isabel and Harold Cuthbert COLBEY. John's father Harold died in 1919 when John was 7 years old. His mother Clara remaried in 1929 to Arthur Hampton of Biggs Flat, South Australia and they were notified in 1942 that John was missing. In September 1943, Clara was notified that her son was a prinsoner of war in Singapore.
After John's return to Australia, he married Elizabeth Stella Mulcahy in East Fremantle in 1945.
John died aged 99 in 2011 at Melville, Western Australia and his ashes were interred in the Mulcahy family plot at the Karrakatta Cemetery.
