Son of Robert John and Susan Emmeline Hughes, of Moonta, South Australia; husband of Mary Ann Hughes, of Moonta, South Australia.

Official advice has been received that Sig. Robert Hughes, D Section, No. 1 Coy, 8th Div. Signallers, AIF, died on June 4, 1945, while a prisoner of war in Sandakan, North Borneo. Sig. Hughes was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Hughes, of Caroline street, Moonta. He enlisted in Western Australia, and left Australia for Malaya early in 1941. He leaves a  wife and one daughter, who also live at Moonta
