The life of Aubrey James Bastian started on the Second of September 1902 in Renmark, South Australia.
The namea of his parents were James Bastian and Emily Jane Rhodes. He grew up with two siblings, one names Charlton Orme Bastian and Vivian May Augusta Bastian.
Aubrey enlisted in the 2nd AIF on the 13th July 1940. He was 37 years and 9 months old at the age of enlisting. Aubrey served as a Private, a rank that typically involved frontline duties and important responsibilities. He went up the ranks from Private to Lance Corporal and then to Corporal but reverted back to Private at his own request.
7th of August 1942 at 9:30am Aubrey went AWOL (absent without leave). He returned at 8:30am 19th of August 1942. The consequence of this was that he was fined 2 pounds and 12 days of pay.
On the 29th of May 1943 Aubrey was diagnosed with planter warts on both of his feet.
After the war, Aubrey returned to civilian life.
He passed away on July 21, 1969, in Adelaide, South Australia. He was buried at West Terrace Cemetery, a place that Honors many who served their country.
