Biography

Born on the 2nd of December 1890 at Paterswolde, Netherlands.

Served 4 years in Holland Navy piror to coming to Australia.

Enlsited on the 31st of August 1918.

Embarked on the 22nd of October 1918 on HMAT Boonah (A36) at Adelaide.

HMAT Boonah recalled to Australia due to the end of the war. Thus Anton Rutgers never served on the Western Front. His 84 days of 'overseas' service was on HMAT Boonah.

Served 84 days overseas

Became a well known local in Port Pirie and started up his own transport business which is still going. Married Ella Sarolta. Died 1 July 1970, Port Pirie. Buried in Port Pirie Cemetery
