With his four sons, Private Harold Christian Peterson (Service No:S69569) served in WWII - enlisting in the ACMF on 25 March 1942. Private Peterson was attached to 3 Battalion VDC at Discharge on 15 October 1945.
Harold was born Stirling in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia in 1893, third of nine children of Christian Peterson (b1863 in Kirke Helsinge, Denmark) and Ellen (Nell) Riley (b1867 in Stirling, Adelaide Hills, South Australia). Christian and Nell married in 1888 in Adelaide, and settled in Stirling where they raised their family and Christian was a Labourer and Builder. In the early 1900s the family moved to Adelaide, where Christian was a Builder.
Harold worked as a Typewriter Mechanic, and in 1916 in Hindmarsh married Catherine (Kate) Rebecca Gardner (b1894 in Wasleys, South Australia) - Kate was a Factory Worker in Bowden. Harold and Kate settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Harold was a Typewriter Mechanic. Kate died in 1959 and Harold in 1974.
