Son of John O'Brien and Ellen O'Brien nee Barry of  Mars Street, Wilston, Brisbane, QLD.

Commenced return to Australia 11 May 1919 aboard HT Borda disembarking on 27 June 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal, Croix de Guerre.

The Croix de Guerre medal was awarded for work at Bellicourt on 29 September 1918.

Post war John suffered badly from his war time experince dying prior to 1922 but exact date or place of his death is not known.
