Private Ralph Ind Headley (Service No:S66088) served in the Senior Cadets and Militia prior to enlisting in the ACMF on 1 April 1942. Private Headley was attached to 3 Battalion VDC at Discharge on 15 December 1943.
Born in Unley, Adleaide, South Australia in 1901, Ralph was eldest of two children of William Ind Headley (b1853 in Cambridgeshire, England) and Marion Driver (b1869 in Adelaide, South Australia). William was an Engineer and Ironmonger in England before immigrating in 1888, arriving in Adelaide on board the Oraya. William and Marion married in 1889 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and William was an Ironmonger. Marion died in 1914.
Ralph worked as an Electrical Fitter in Adelaide where, in 1926 he married Martha Thornton Smith (b1903 in Adelaide, South Australia). Ralph and Martha settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Ralph was an Electrical Fitter and Foreman. They retired to Victor Harbour, where Ralph served as Honorary Secretary of the Elderly Citizens' Association. Martha died in 1981 and Ralph in 1989.
