Private Thomas Ferguson Daniell (Service No:S69500) served in the ACMF with 3 Battalion VDC from 12 April 1942 to 26 October 1943. Both his son Ross and daughther Jean also served in WWII.
Thomas was born in Queenstown, Adelaide, South Australia in 1894, eldest of three children of Thomas Charles Daniell (b1871 in Adelaide, South Australia) and Mary Ann Forsyth (b1872 in Aberdeen, Scotland) - Mary immigrated in 1876, arriving in Port Adelaide on board the Lady Jocelym. Thomas Snr (a Tinsmith) and Mary married in 1895 in Adelaide, where they lived and raised their children before moving to Peterborough. Thomas Snr worked as a Tinsmith and later a Storeman.
Thomas started work with the Postal Department as a Telegraph Messenger in 1910 in Adelaide where, in 1921, he married his first wife Gladys Adelaide Chick (b1896 in Adelaide, South Australia). Thomas and Gladys settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Thomas was a Newspaper Representative and Assistant Advertising Manager. Following their Divorce in 1940, Thomas remarried in Adelaide in 1941 to Mary Drew Hewitt (b1906 in Adelaide, South Australia) - Mary worked as an Advertising Writer. Thomas and Mary settled in Adelaide, where Thomas was an Advertising Manager and Mary an Advertising Writer. Thomas died in 1962 and Mary in 1999.
