Son of James and Alice ROBERTS, Stansbury, South Australia
Private John James Roberts, who was reported killed in action in France, March 1st, was the dearly-beloved son of Mrs W. Thompson, Oaklands, Yorke Peninsula, and the late Mr James Roberts. He was born in West Australia on December 4, 1897, and received his education at the Oaklands Public School. On leaving school he was engaged in farming until April I9,1915, when he enlisted. He left for the Front on August 26, 1915, and was wounded on May 27, 1916. He returned to France on May 18, 1917, had trench fever in August, 1917, and returned to the Front on January 3, 1918, and remained there until the time of his death. He was a general favorite. A Memorial Service will be conducted, by the Rev H. W. Jew at the Oaklands Methodist Church at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday April 21.
