Son of Robert H acaldwell, 'Ingledene', York Street, Epping, New South Wales

Robert served in France and participatd in nearly all engagements until contracting poisoned finger, and was invalided to C.C.S. and later to 1st Southern General Hospital, England.  He did not rejoin his unit owing to cessation of hostilities.

Married Thelma Louise WALLACE in 1928
