Personal Stories
Dom’s War at Gawler!
My father Dominic Patrick O’Reilly was studying Pharmacy at the University of Adelaide during the latter part of WW2. He and his mates used to joke that they fought the war at Gawler Racecourse, where they were living and training out of army tents. These guys were required trades for the home front, so they never travelled far from the University.
