Gunner Francis Augustine Taylor (Service Nos:S26161/SX18030) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 15 January 1942 as a Private - graded Cook - attached to 48 Infantry Battalion. On 18 March 1942 Gunner Taylor enlisted in the AIF and was attached to 108 Anti Tank Regiment. Gunner Taylor served with 63 Infantry Battalion in Morotai (2 October 1945 - 10 January 1946), and was attached to 63 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 19 March 1946. Brother Kevin also served in WWII.
Born in Edwardstown, Adelaide, South Australia in 1918, Frank was eldest of four children of Augustine James Taylor (b1892 in Gilberton, South Australia) and Hannah James Higgins (b1887 in Mitcham Park, South Australia). Augustine and Hannah married in 1918 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and Augustine worked as a Gardener.
Frank was working in Adelaide as an Ice Vendor in 1940 when he enlsied in the Army, and was married to May when he died in 2001.
