Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

One of four brothers and numerous cousins serving in WWII, Private Eric Allan Morris (Service No:S20031) enlisted in the ACMF on 5 August 1940, attending Camp until 11 April 1941 when he was Discharged to Area (Reserved Occupation).

Eric was born in Ki Ki, Coorong, South Australia in 1918, fifth of eight children of Allan Clayton Morris (b1880 in Pichi Richi via Quorn, South Australia) and Caroline Charlotte Fidge (b1885 in Wandearaht, South Australia). Allan was a Railway Labourer in Keith when he and Caroline married in 1906 in  Coonalpyn via Wellington. Allan worked for SAGR as a Labourer and Railway Guard, and the family lived at Murray Bridge, Caltowie and Ki Ki before settling in Adelaide.

Eric worked as a Farm Hand in Waikerie and was a Labourer in Adelaide in 1940 when he enlisted in the ACMF. In 1944 in Adelaide, Eric married Elder Hunt James (b1923 in Jamestown, South Australia). Eric and Elder settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Eric worked as a Storeman. Eric died in 1996 and Elder in 1997.
