Leslie Gordon Bradfield was born on June 14th, 1897, in Colonel Light Gardens, Mitcham, South Australia. On November 17th, 1915, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the A.I.F.  On the 9th of March the following year Leslie embarked from Adelaide, on board the RMS Mongolia, alongside the 10th Australian Infantry Battalion heading for Europe. Leslie joined the 50th Australian Infantry battalion in Egypt. On multiple occasions Leslie was reported of offence of misbehaviour on parade and numerous times he had to report to the hospital sick, returning back to the field. Leslie Bradfield saw battle in Étaples, Rouen and Amiens being admitted to the hospital in all three of those battles. He returned home to later marry Blanche Emily Bradfield and have their son Leslie Gordon Bradfield in Adelaide, who was born on the 21st of June 1921. In recognition of his dedication and hard work, he was awarded the1914/15 STAR the British War Medal no.10152 and the VICTORY medal no.10084.

While working as a station hand on the railways, Leslie and his son enlisted, at Cheltenham SA on May 28th, 1940, to serve in the Second World War. From its headquarters in Adelaide, Leslie served as a warrant officer at the Administration District of the Australian Army, the 4th Military District, which included all of South Australia. In 1944, Leslie was discharged from his position due to being medically unfit. He passed away of natural causes on the 9th of February 1962 aged 65 years old. Leslie Bradfield is buried at the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide (AIF Section) Section: LO, Road: 10S, Site No: 0A.
