Henry Herbert Lawson
Herbert Henry Lawson was born at the Barossa Diggings on the 22nd November 1886. He enlisted on the 15th August 1916, aged 29 and named his mother, Mrs Louisa Lawson of Forest Range, as next of kin.
Lawson left for England on the 21st October 1916 on board HMT Port Melbourne, arriving on the 28th December.
In England Lawson was hospitalised at Parkside with mumps on the 8th March 1917, rejoining his 10th Battalion on the 21st March. He proceeded to France with his battalion on the 28th March.
Lawson was wounded in action in Belgium on the 20th / 21st October 1917, receiving a gunshot wound to the left thigh. He was consequently hospitalised in France and later at Fulham Military Hospital in England, prior to being sent home to Australia and discharged on the 25th March 1918.
