Morgan Richard John is a single, 34-year-old man and was a labourer when he enlisted on the 4th of May 1916. He was assigned to the 32nd infantry battalion. His service number was 3588. He was an averaged sized man for his age with a height of 5’8” tall or 172cm. The average height was also around 5’8” tall so Richard passed as a normal sized soldier.
He embarked overseas to France few months after enlistment in the army. After arriving they marched to England a day after arriving from France. Soon after Richard John was sent to Hospital for being sick on the 15/12/16. Two days later after observation and isolation Richard was diagnosed with mumps and then was transferred to the 24th general hospital for further treatment. Soon after that he was transferred to another hospital (18th general hospital). After about a month in hospital all up, Richard was finally given all clear and marched back to the 32nd battalion.
Morgan Richard John sadly lost his life as he was KILLED IN ACTION on the 11th of May 1917 near Bapaume and was buried in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France.
11th of May 1917 was when he was officially buried in Queant Road Cemetery but before he was buried in the cemetery, he was buried in an isolated grave by S.W of side of road and aquater mile of S.S.E of Noreuil and was one mile N.N.W of Lagnicourt.
