10 November 1917:- Accidentally wounded with a gunshot wound to the left thigh

Commenced return to Australia on 13 March 1918 aboard HT Field Marshall disembarking on 22 May 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney

During 1927c William married Vida Alvena Agnes Bourke in Armidale, NSW
