Biography contributed by Kim Warren

Frederick was working as a telegrapher in Darwin when it was bombed in 1942.  Ignoring the warden who directed him to the bomb shelter, he took his chances in the street gutter with a delivery boy who was refused entry. The post office took a direct hit, killing all inside.
