Stewart Osburn COWEN was born in Eaglehawk in Victoria on 6th January, 1893

His parents were Herbert Osburn COWEN & Elizabeth THORN

He married Frances Madge KILLICOAT on 18th November, 1918 in Ayr in Scotland  - they had three daughters.

Frances also served during WW1 as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) and was discharged on 18th November, 1918 when she married

Stewart served in both WW1 and WW2 where he worked at the Heidelberg Military Hospital in Victoria

Enlisted 26 October 1914 and appointed Sergeant-had served 10 months in A.I.F. Appointed Captain in Australian Army Medical Corps 13 November 1916.As staff Sergeant in the No. 1 Australian Stationary Hospital he had service no. 1125
