Youngest of the three brothers (Gordon, Frank and Lloyd) who served in WWII, Private Lloyd Thomas Frisby (Service No:S53566) enlisted in the ACMF on 30 March 1942 and marched out to 10 Labor Coy Woodside, and then 32nd Infantry Training Battalion. On 16 November 1943, Private Frisby marched out to 4 Garrison Battalion, and was Discharged (Medically Unfit) on 10 May 1944.
Lloyd was born in Smithfield, South Australia in 1924, youngest of seven children of James Scott Frisby (b1885 in Smithfield, South Australia) and Florence (Flo) Mary Swann (b1887 in Gawler, South Australia). James and Flo married in 1910 in Gawler, and lived there, and in Salisbury and Smithfield. James was a Carrier and Chaff Merchant, and in WWI was awarded a contract for 'cartage of forage for Militant Forces of the Commonwealth' (Trove; 1915). James worked as a Carrier in Smithfield and Gawler.
Lloyd worked in Smithfield as a Labourer before enlisting in the Army. In 1942 in Gawler he married Nancy (Nan) Kura Rogers (b1923 in Gilbert, South Australia. Lloyd and Nan lived in Smithfield and Adelaide, where they raised their family - Lloyd was a member of the SA Amateur Athletics Association and of the Adelaide Harriers. Lloyd died in 2011 and Nan in 2017.
