DAVIES David Llywelyn MB BS
1921-1991
David Llywelyn Davies was born, on 25th May 1921, in Clare South Australia. His parents were Llewellyn Albert Davies and Florence Emma Stuckey, nee Hill. He was educated at St Peter’s College and the University of Adelaide where he graduated MB BS in 1943. He married Sheila May Groves, on 27th May 1944, who lived at 70 Northgate Street, Millswood, SA. A son was born on 1st September 1945.
Davies joined the AAMC while he was a medical student on 21st April 1941 as a private soldier. His father was named as his next of kin. He continued his medical studies and was placed on Reserve of Officers on 11th January 1944 at the completion of his degree. He transferred to the 2/AIF on 17th March 1945, with the rank of captain, at Wayville, SA, and commenced full-time duty. He gave his wife as next of kin, and they were living in Northgate Street, Millswood, SA at the time. From the SA LoC, on 1st April 1945, he transferred to 2 AAMC Trg unit. Davies attended a Hygiene Course from 13th May to 27th May 1945. He was appointed as RMO to HQ Command Darwin on 25th June 1945, and on 29th October 1945, he was transferred to 107 AGH. He was detached to the Interservice Medical Wing on 11th March 1946. He marched into 4 MD for discharge, on 8th January 1947, and transferred to the Reserve of Officers. He retired from the military on 7th December 1964.
Following the war, Davies was living in Leabrook, SA. He was a member of the AMA. No further information could be found in regards to his medical career other than he had a medical practice at 185 Payneham Road, St Peter’s, SA. David Llywelyn Davies died, on 13th April 1991, when he was living in Colleen Street Rostrevor. He was survived by his children Richard, John and Elspeth.
