Enlisted as William James Corrigan. On 29 May 1918 he sign a Statutory Declaration that his true name was William John Quirk.
Son of James Quirk and Julia Quirk nee Stanley of Paddington, NSW
Husband of Mabel May Quirk of Thorne Street, Paddington, NSW.
Brother of Maurice Quirk who was killed in action on 7 April 1918 while serving with the 19th Battlion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial; Ernest James Quirk who returned to Australia on 14 March 1919 having served with the 19th Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 9 March 1919 aboard HT Kashmir disembarking on 23 April 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
