Lance Ashby DAWES was born in Evanston, Gawler, South Australia on 27th May, 1916

His parents were Arthur Gordon DAWES & Ruby Isabel TURNER who married in St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Gawler on 19th June 1915

He was engaged to Miss Elsie JACOBS in 1940

He died from Malaria at the Sandakan No. 1 Camp in Borneo on 13th January, 1945 as a prisoner of war of the Japanese (POW Number 189)

His last rank was Corporal with the 27 Independant Brigade Group Ordnance Workshops (AAOC)
