Lance/Sgt. Hurtle W G Young 32nd Emp. AMF of Prescott Terrace Rose Park. Aged 26. Married to Sylvia, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Rattew on 7th December 1941. Son of Mr and Mrs C Young of 167 Sturt Street Adelaide. Educated at Sturt Street Public and Goodwood Central Schools. Member of Brunswick Football Club and won trophies at football and cricket. Also excelled at high jump and won trophy as member of Western District Harriers Club. Previous to call-up was employed at Metro Picture Theatre. Trained at Woodside and was transferred to the Employment Coy. in September 1942. During cargo unloading operations at Milne Bay, Sgt Young accidently fell into the ship's hold and was rendered unconscious for three days then passed away.
