Died on this date – 22nd December…… Percy Frederick Money was born at Thaxted, Essex, England in 1856. He was listed in the 1881 England Census as a 24 year old Student of Medicine.

Percy Frederick Money married Emily Jane Sleeman. Their marriage was registered in March quarter, 1885 in the district of Kensington, London, England.

The New Zealand Gazettes for 1886 – 1894 listed Percy Frederick Money as a Medical Practitioner, moving around to different districts in New Zealand.
The 1896 New Zealand Electoral Roll for the division of Taranaki, subdivision of Patea, recorded Percy Frederick Money, Medical Practitioner & Emily Jane Money, Waverley.

According to information supplied by his wife – Ellen Elizabeth Money he came to Australia when he was about 40 years old.

P. F. Money, Surgeon, aged 40, was listed as Crew on Aorangl, which had departed from the port of London, England & arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 3rd May, 1897.

P. F. Money, Surgeon, aged 41, was listed as Crew on Aorangl, which had departed from the port of Vancouver, Canada & arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 20th October, 1897.

The 1900 Australasian Medical Directory recorded Money, Percy Frederick, Goodooga, NSW.

The 1912 Australian Electoral Roll for the division of Herbert, subdivision of Ingham, Queensland recorded Percy F. Money, Medical Practitioner & Ellen Elizabeth Money, Home duties living at Ingham.

Percy Frederick Money applied for a Commission in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 23rd December, 1915. He was a married, general Medical Practitioner, aged 59 years & 1 month & stated he had served 8 years as Private to Sergeant with Artists (Rifles) London.

Captain Percy Frederick Money embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on HMAT Kyarra (A55) on 3rd January, 1916 with the Medical Officers Transport.
Captain Percy Frederick Money completed his Attestation Papers with the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 19th February, 1916. His next of kin was listed as his wife – Ellen Elizabeth Money. Percy Money stated on his Attestation Papers that he had previously served with 28th Middlesex (Artists) Corps, London & had also completed 4 months in various Camps in Brisbane.

He returned to Australia on Hospital Ship Argyllshire ex Suez on 3rd March, 1916 as the Medical Officer on Duty & arrived in Melbourne, Victoria on 30th March, 1916. Captain Money returned to duty with 1st Military District on 18th May, 1916 & re-embarked from Sydney, NSW on HMAT Karoola on 20th May, 1916 with the Medical Officers Transport.

On 4th July, 1916 Captain Money was transferred to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital at Tel-el-Kebir. He was detached from 3rd Australian General Hospital at Abbassia from Temporary Attachment to England. He embarked on Arcadian from Alexandria for Overseas to join B.E.F. (British Expeditionary Force).

Captain Money was transferred from A.A.M.C. (Australian Army Medical Corps) Details to No. 1 Command Depot at Perham Downs, Wiltshire on 19th August, 1916. He was taken on strength of 1st Training Battalion from No. 2 Parkhouse Camp on 19th August, 1916.

He was transferred to No. 2 Command Depot at Weymouth, Dorset on 3rd November, 1916 from No. 2 Camp, Parkhouse.

Captain Percy Frederick Money died at 11 pm on 22nd December, 1916 at Princess Christian Hospital, Weymouth, Dorset, England from Bronchitis. The Report of a Death of a Soldier recorded that next of kin of the late Captain Percy Frederick Money, A.A.M.C., as Ellen Elizabeth Money (widow), of Brookes Street, Bowen Hill, Brisbane, Queensland.
He was buried in Melcombe Regis Cemetery, Weymouth, Dorset, England where 82 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.

He had a widow – Emily Jane Money, living in Sydney, NSW. He also had a defacto wife – Ellen Elizabeth Money, living in Brisbane, Queensland.
