Add my storyBiography contributed by Faithe Jones
Son of Harold John DAVIS and Evelyn nee BURMAN.
"Bill" grew up in Port Pirie with a family of four sisters. The family moved and lived at South Road, Richmond and then to Jenkins Street Cownandilla where he enlisted. He was a clerk with Richards Industries Limited at Maple Ave, Keswick. He played football firstly for the Richmond & Keswick football club and then for the "Bloods" at West Adelaide Football Club. On enlistment he went into camp for three months but was then discharged as medically unfit due to a hearing loss. He was devestated and went home to his mother and broke down, bitterly disapointed that he was unable to allowed to serve his country.
Later in life he married and he and his wife and daughter moved to Pyramid Hill Victoria purchasing the local hotel. He relished serving behind the bar and chatting with the boys at the bar. He was a very sociable person. The family eventually returned to Adelaide and purchased a home at Castle Street, Edwardstown. After losing his wife to brain cancer his health declined and he passed away from heart failure at home.
