Michael Con FINOS, S26468 enlistment date was on 5th Aug 1940, but his date of discharge is not shown in the National Archives, most were discharged shortly after the end of the 2nd World War in 1946.
Note that the 2/48 Battalion was raised at the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide in August 1940. The history of the 2/48 Battalion is in the AWM Website, https://www.awm.gov.au/unit/U56079/, which states “the battalion was raised at the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide in August 1940”, about the same date as Mick enlisted.
The 2/48th did its initial training at Woodside, before sailing to the Middle East in November (1940).
The remaining story of 2/48th is in this Link and offers the details of what they did in Egypt, where Mick was born, and later in New Guinea.
Mick’s Army history will be added to when his sons obtain his history from National Archives.
