Corporal Lloyd Robert Gunter (Service No:S11519) enlisted in the ACMF on 15 October 1940 as a Gunner attached to 50 Field Battery. On 26 February 1942 - graded Clerk - he was promoted to Corporal and attached to District Accounts Office SA. On 4 February 1947, Corporal Gunter was attached to 48 Australian Field Battery at Discharge.

Lloyd was born at Crystal Brook, South Australia in 1919, youngest of ten children of Samuel (Sam) Gunter (b1862 in Blinman, South Australia) and Emmaline Annie Gill (b1881 in Blinman, South Australia). Sam worked as a Farm Hand at Gill's Farm via Blinman and in the Wallaroo Mines before he and Emmaline married in 1902 in Blinman. The couple lived in Blinman, Port Augusta, Mt Bryan, Crystal Brook and Kapunda. Sam worked as Chief Assistant to the Foreman at the Wallaroo Smelting Works, as a Mason and as a Builder and  Contractor (Sam Gunter & Sons).

Lloyd was working as a Salesman in Glenelg in 1940 when he enlisted in the Army. In 1942 in Adelaide he married Sheila Audrey May Thomas (b1917 in Glenelg, South Australia). Following his Discharge from the Army, Lloyd and Sheila settled in Adelaide (Glenelg and Glengowrie) where they raised their family. Sheila died in 1996 and Lloyd died in 2004.
