One of three brothers (Gordon, Frank and Lloyd) who served in WWII, Trooper Frank Frisby served in the ACMF with 18th Light Horse (MG) Regiment from 16 May 1941 to 11 March 1942.

Frank was born in Gawler, South Australia in 1920, fifth of seven children of James Scott Frisby (b1885 in Smithfield, South Australia) and Florence (Flo) May Swann (b1887 in Gawler, South Australia). James and Flo married in 1910 in Gawler, where they settled and raised their family. In WWI, James, a Carrier and Chaff Merchant, was awarded a contract for 'cartage of forage for the Militant Forces of the Commonwealth' (Trove; 1915). James and Flo lived in Gawler and Smithfield, where James worked as a Carrier.

Frank worked as a Farm Labourer in Smithfield, and was granted 'Harvest Leave' during his service in the Army In 1945 in Adelaide, Frank married Amy Joyce Wall (b1923 at Swan Reach, South Australia). Frank and Amy lived in Smithfield and Gawler, where they raised their family and Frank worked as a Labourer and with the SA Country Fire Services - he was awarded a National Medal in 1981 for his service.
