Percy Platt was born on the 13th of July, in the year 1888. Platt was born in Malvern and grew up in Glenelg. Later on, Percy moved to South Unley, where he spent most of his life. Before the war, he was a Labourer. He attended the Church of England, in Adelaide. Percy had a wife named Minnie Platt, who lived in Unley alongside him. Percy's regimental number was 2967.
Percy Platt enlisted on the 28th of January, 1916. He embarked from Adelaide, on board HMAT A60 Aeneas, on the 11th of April, 1916. He was twice wounded in action. Percy returned to Australia three years on, on the 19th of June, 1919. After around 20 years in Australia, Platt enlisted for WW2. He was involved in the Australian Military Forces as a sergeant for 7 years (1941-1948), and showed a lot of bravery and courage in that time.
On the 2nd of February, 1948, Percy was discharged from the Australian Military, and let free to go back home. Percy was one of the lucky ones to live a full life, despite contributing in two wars. He passed away on the 10th of August, in the year 1966. He died aged 78. He is buried in the Northern Suburbs Crematorium. Percy fought for the country and will be remembered forever for doing so.
