Leonard George Cunningham was born on February 20th, 1895, in North Adelaide and later resided in Richmond.

Prior to his service, he worked as a barman. Leonard was married to Eileen Ellen who was his next kin. Leonard was a fit man as when enlisted, medical records stated he was fit for class 2. He enlisted in 1940 at the age of 45.

His dedication and bravery were shown in his progression in ranks as he was promoted Corporal on January 27th, 1942, and later promoted to Sergeant in October 1942. He served in SA, NT and QLD.

Leonard was discharged on March 20th, 1947, aged 52.

Sadly, Leonard George passed away at age 70 and was buried in West Terrance Cemetery. He will always be known as a memorable and brave soldier due to his excellent service.
