Harold Martin Hixon was born on the 4th of July 1896 in Ovingham, South Australia. Before serving in War, Hixon was a commercial traveller and lived in Cheltenham, South Australia alongside his wife, Chrissie Myrtle Hixon, who was also his next of kin. Both Harold and his wife were members of the Church of England.

Hixon enlisted for war service on the 28th of June 1940 in Wayville, SA at 43 years old. He was deemed Fit for Class II, and his army number was S54. Hixon was first reported for duty on the 13th of July 1940 and was promoted to Company Quartermaster Sergeant only three months later on the 16th of October 1940. He was transferred out to HQ 5 Australian Advanced Ammunition Depot on the 12th of September 1944.

Hixon continued to serve Australia until his sudden death on the 1st of November 1946 in Glenelg, SA, from probable coronary trombosis at the of 50. He is bured at Cenntennial Park Cemetary. His Roll of Honour can be found at Panel 86 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
