When Thomas Angus Malcolm (Ike) McInnis was born on 16 August 1920 in Streaky Bay, South Australia, his father, James, was 31 and his mother, Violet, was 20. Ike served in the military in 1939 in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, when he was 19 years old. He married Freda May Evans on 10 August 1943 in Moonta, South Australia. They had three children during their marriage. He died on 20 January 2007 in Port Lincoln, South Australia, at the age of 86, and was buried in Centenary Park Cemetery, Pasadena, Mitcham City, South Australia, Australia.
