Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry at Peronne, 1 and 2 September 1918. When his platoon was held up, and suffering heavily from machine gun fire, this non-commissioned officer dashed forward with his Lewis gun and silenced the hostile machine gun, while the platoon pushed forward and captured the garrison.'
