Son of William Minnear Roberts and Eliza Annie (nee Jeffries)  of Kadina, SA, later of 1 Rose Street, Mile End, SA; brother of May Roberts, William Harold Roberts, William Roberts, Percy Roberts, George Harold Roberts and Claude Roberts 

Husband of Mary Myrtle (nee Bates) Roberts, father of Percy Roberts. Alfred and Myrtle were married on 19 February 1920 in the Methodist Church, Kent Town, SA

31 October 1917 - commenced  return to Australia on board HT Berrima for discharge
