Corporal Kevin Bryan McMahon (Service Nos:S45768/SX28881) initially served in the ACMF as a Private attached to 3rd Australian Infantry Training Battalion (15 July 1942 - 9 March 1943), enlisting in the AIF on 10 March 1943. Private McMahan served with 2/4th Anti Malaria Control Unit in New Guinea (7 September 1943 to 27 July 1944) and was a Lance Corporal when he embarked with his Unit on 3 November 1944 from Cairns for Aitape on board the Duntroon. Promoted to Corporal, he was attached to 2/7 and 2/2 Field Ambulance, embarking from Weewak for Sydney on 12 February 1946 on board the Duntroon. Corporal McMahan was attached to 2/4 Anti Malaria Contol Unit at Discharge on 19 July 1946.
Born in Port Pirie, South Australia in 1923, Kevin was eldest of four children of Kevin Bryan McMahon (b1898 in Adelaide, South Australia) and Constance Mary Brown (b1902 at Port Pirie, South Australia). Kevin Snr and Constance married in 1921 at Port Pirie, where they lived until moving to Adelaide in the mid 1920s. Kevin Snr was a Travelling Salesman.
Kevin was working in Adelaide as a Stage Performer and Small Good Salesman in 1942 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, Kevin was in Hindmarsh in 1947 when he married Bridget Muriel Joraslafsky (b1928 in Adelaide, South Australia). Kevin died in 1993 and Brisget in 2002.
