John Marriott was awarded a Life Membership of the RSL in 1981 for his service to the organisation and his community.  He was a committee member from 1966, 1970 to 75 and again from 1977 to 81.  John was the ANZAC Day march marshall from 1968 to 1980. He worked on the Building sub committee from 1976 to 80. His fairy floss machine was donated for the annual Christmas tree event.  John joined Legacy in 1967 to 81 and was the Group Chairman in 1981.  He also joined Alice Springs Local Council 1974 and is now longest serving member. Chairman and member of the Workes Committee 1977 to 80. John also joined the Lions Service Clubs 1968 to 81, and president in 1970.  A Foundation member and player of the  RSL Alice Springs 8 ball Travellers.  Assists community organisation when undertaking fund raising by lending his fairy floss machine and his time.
